Why is it significant?
This tree is an outstanding example of its species for its size with a height of 40m and canopy spread of 20m. This is currently the largest on the register, the second largest being 30.5m high significant at the Regional level (T12202). The tree has excellent form and is notable for its unusual growth pattern, supporting a number of very prominent and large internal branches. The tree makes a significant contribution to the surrounding landscape of Noorilim Homestead. Standing in an isolated position on the other side of the lake and visible from the front of the mansion it is a significant feature of the historic garden.
