Why is it significant?

The location of this tree on the edge of the Banyule Billabong has allowed it to grow to an outstanding form. Studley Park Gum is rare, with the only other examples on the register at Eaglemont Station, Eaglemont (T11737) and along the Alamein railway line, Ashburton (T12361). This species is a hybrid, with early examples found at Studley Park in Kew. Endemic to Victoria this species is listed as endangered. This tree is an excellent example of the species.
