What is significant?

This large Mountain ash is located in the Great Otway National Park, on the west branch of the Barham River. It is one of a set of large old growth trees in Victoria (T12342, T12343, T12344, T12345, T12346, T12347, T12348, T12349, T12350, T12351, T12356, T12357, T12358), including another nearby Mountain ash on the register T12357.

How is it significant?

This Mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) is significant for scientific reasons at State level.

Why is it significant?

This Mountain ash is outstanding for its size, with a height of 75m, spread of 30m and girth of 12.8m. It is an outstanding example of the species as an intact tree with a bifurcated trunk from 38m into two divergent forks. This area of the Otway Ranges has a high rainfall, supporting lush ferns and dense forests. This is the second largest Mountain ash in the Colac Otway region, only slightly smaller than the nearby 'Braham of Barham' Mountain ash (T12357), with the next largest at Apollo Bay measuring 76m (T11055).
