What is significant?
This large Errinundra shining gum is located 80m of the Whitelaws
Track in Baw Baw. It is one of a set of large old growth trees in
Victoria also on the register (T12342, T12343, T12345, T12346, T12347,
T12348, T12349, T12350, T12351, T12356, T12357, T12358). This tree is
a few hundred metres away from the Whitelaw Tree (T11972) which is on
the same track.
How is it significant?
This Errinundra shining gum (Eucalyptus denticulata) is
significant for scientific reasons at State level.
Why is it significant?
This Errinundra shining gum is outstanding for its size, with a
height of 58m, spread of 25m and girth of 10.7m. It is a large and
outstanding example of the species. Eucalyptus denticulata
(Errinundra shining gum) is native to this area of East Gippsland
and the type specimen was collected relatively recently on March 3,
1989, at an altitude of 1,140 metres above sea level, at Errinundra
National Park. Previously this species was considered an informal
variant of Eucalyptus nitens known as the Shining Gum. It is
slightly larger in height and spread than the nearby Whitelaw tree
