Aesthetic significance
Outstanding example of species
The Mexican Weeping Pine (Pinus patula) makes a significant aesthetic contribution to the immediate landscape of Russell Street and Lock Avenue. Its unusually broad round canopy makes it a unique example of the species within a suburban/residential environment. Its height-spread dimensions make it an important second generation planting in a culturally and historically significant residence set within a four acre 1940s arboretum-style garden. It is rare in cultivation within residential gardens and is historically significant at State level.
