Statement of Significance: The St Kilda Artillery orderly room reflects the particular characteristics of orderly rooms built at this time (Criterion 3.2). While being representative of its type, the building also has a rare form of roof design (Criterion 2.2). Part of an urban conservation area, and sited adjacent to a number of important buildings, the place has considerable streetscape value (Criterion 5.1). The building is historically associated with the establishment of volunteer defence forces in Victoria and with government participation in colonial defence (Criterion 1.4).
