Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009 Bungalow Cottage is of historical and architectural significance at a local level and possibly at a state level. Historically, the dwelling is significant for its association with the earliest phase of development at Queenscliff, with the original imported 1850s prefabricated component also significant for its association with the history of such dwellings in Victoria. While an evolved house, and not distinguished architecturally, the prefabricated component of Bungalow Cottage is rare and significant for its ability to demonstrate aspects of prefabricated/portable cottage manufacture and construction, particularly the Manning house approach. It is also understood to be one of a small number of known examples of a Manning prefabricated house in Victoria.
