According to the Principal, Mr Owen Dixon, the Cork Oak (Quercus suber) was planted when the school was built in 1875.
This Oak is an outstanding example of the species and has majestic appeal due to its size and form. It is tall and symmetrical and is in excellent condition. It adds considerably to the aesthetic appeal of the school and the surrounds.
