Important landmark The English Oak was planted by Mr J S Anderson, a prominent businessman and resident of Sandford, on 21 June 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. This tree has grown into a magnificent specimen, with an almost perfectly symmetrical crown spread of 25 metres and a height of 21 metres The tree dominates the Sandford Township, and is sited between two historic Sanford brick buildings, the Mechanics Institute and the ROAB (Foresters) Hall.
