What is significant?

Historical archaeological remains of a late 19th-century quartz mine

How is it significant?

Intactness: retains evidence of the key aspects of a small scale quartz mine – battery remains, burning kiln and mine workings
 
Integrity: an arrangement of mining relics which demonstrates the basic outlay of a small scale gold mine
 
Condition: retained fabric in a condition that can be understood and interpreted
 

Why is it significant?

The site has significance as a relic of Victoria’s historic gold mining industry. In comparison to other contemporary quartz mine, the mining features are visible and there is one quartz burning kiln. The kiln is a rare gold mining feature.
