Statement of Significance

The mine has historical significance for its association with the Ballarat gold mining era. The archaeological significance is unknown unless the shaft is excavated. The archaeological potential of mine shafts lies in their ability to illuminate the techniques of shaft building in the 19th century and secondly, there is unknown potential for the shaft to contain material from that period.
