REVISED STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE (with AHC criteria):
The Dwelling at 50 Arthur Street, Eltham is significant to Nillumbik
Shire: - as a good example from a small group of dwellings constructed in
European medieval revival styles in Eltham after the Second World War,
a stylistic theme so strongly identified with the former Shire since
the construction of Montsalvat (from 1934) (Criterion B2); - for its illustration of a significant component of the former Shire
of Eltham's cultural heritage, the 'Eltharn Style examples being
marked by their design variety, their often unusual construction, and
many being owner built (Criterion 02); REVISED ELTHAM STUDY EXTENT OF DESIGNATION: BUILDING AND LAND WITHIN THE TITLE TO A RADIUS OF 30 METRES, with
emphasis on fabric from the 1960s. HERITAGE VALUE Shire
