The Meeniyan Police Station complex, comprising the station and residence constructed in 1949 and an early portable lock up, at Whitelaw Street, Meeniyan.

Why is it significant?
The Meeniyan Police Station complex is of local historic, aesthetic and technical significance to the township of Meeniyan.

Historically, it demonstrates the development of police facilities in the Shire in the post war period.

Aesthetically, the station and residence are of interest as an integrated complex that exhibit moderne influences.

Technically, the portable lock up is a locally rare example of a prefabricated building that demonstrates how this technique was used to create readily transportable structures for use in rural areas.
