SiteCard data copied on 09/07/2024:

What is significant?

Remains of a late 19th century quartz mine that retains no visible machinery foundations. Only features surviving are partly excavated mullock heap and tailings dump. There is a possible machinery site marked by brick rubble.

How is it significant?

The site has poor intactness and integrity, but may have some archaeological significance due to the presence of a possible machinery site.

Why is it significant?

The site has local significance as a relic of Victoria’s historic gold mining industry. However, in comparison to other contemporary quartz mine, it is poorly preserved.
