Statement of Significance

The Hillcrest Estate, built 1933-34, is of significance as the first estate of Albert Victor Jennings (later knighted). Building on the principles and experience established in this and another three estates developed in the depressed building industry of the 1930's, AV Jennings' company became Australia's largest private home order building, and the largest and most influential provider of house and land packages, during the post war suburban boom.
