An unusual tree in cutivation;native to Southern Mexico, Venezuela and Columbia. One of many plants often referrëd to as "Stinging Trees" This specimen is the most outstanding of the eight known. It is popluar for sub tropical gardening style as the young seedling bear very large leaves.
The tree lost a limb as a result of storm damage in October 1987 but has recovered to develop a good form.
Located 20 metres south of toilets in North East corner, against rear fence of Gardens
