This Variegated Elm is a large, upright form of the species dominating the landscape.
Mr Retallack purchased 3 acres in 1881 and built the large house named Carnbrae Two after a castle in Cornwall. It was bought by Misses Mitchell in 1908 who then sold it to Messrs Manifold Cuthbert & Bailey for the establishment of Queens College.The site is now theBallarat Campus of theAustralian Catholic University.
