Contribution to the landscape

This is a large and imposing specimen of Forest Red Gum (Eucalyptus tereticornis) located in paddocks forming part of the historic Strathfieldsaye Homestead complex at Stratford.
The tree exhibits a large trunk and an upright, narrow crown with no foliage for the first 10-14 metres.
The Strathfieldsaye estate is classified by the National Trust and listed on the Register of the National Estate. The present complex was established in 1869-1879 and has strong associations with the history of Gippsland.The landscape quality of the complex is paramount.
The tree is located in the Strathfieldsaye Homestead garden, 20m from the front gate and 300m from the shore of Lake Wellington.
