This species is unusual in cultivation in Victoria and this tree is the largest known example. Another known example occurs at the Mt Dandenong Arboretum and the species is occasionally found in gardens at Mt Macedon. This tree has an excellent cone-shaped form and is a valuable species in an impressive conifer collection. St Fillan was purchased by Sir James Munro (Premier of Victoria 1890-92) in the late 1880s and the planting is thought to be from this period. He sold the property in 1903.
