Quercus macrolepis is an unusual species in cultivation in Victoria,. This stand is the largest known planting in Victoria, and may have occurred due to interest in Valonia Oak as a tanning source. The property was owned between 1880-90 by Michaelis Hallenstine, Tanners of Melbourne, and records show that the Black Wattle was harvested from the property in the 1880s. The trees are in good condition. They are low spreading and planted in a grid pattern, similar to an orchard.
The trees are located between the house and shearing shed; single specimen east of creek.
