This wide, sweeping, mainly pastoral valley narrows in its upper limits. At the point of narrowing, the Recorded area extends to both ridges of the valley. The vegetation comprises Narrow-leaved Peppermint (E. radiata) and Brittle Gum (E. mannifera) on the forested slopes, with Mountain Gum (E. dalrympleana) on the flats. The precipitous Mt. Buffalo provides an outstanding contrast to this valley which has many historic associations including mining relics. LOCATION: The Buckland Valley in the north-east of Victoria is situated 1.2 km from the township of Porepunkah; 65 km due south of Albury/Wodonga and is immediately below Mount Buffalo to the east.
