Fawthrop Lagoon provides an intricate pattern of ecosystems which must be somewhat unique within the confines of any town and is an asset for tourism, study and enjoyment.

It is a major habitat for birds, is surrounded by areas of remnant native plants and trees, and is also a major retardation basin which is of importance in controlling the flooding of surrounding urban areas.

LOCATION:

Fawthrop Lagoon is located on Wattle Hill Creek near the centre of Portland.
