Statement of Significance

The Silvan Agricultural area is of high significance within the Melbourne Region due to:

- the high scenic value of the area, both when viewed from within and when viewed from the Dandenong Ranges,

- the economic importance of the area for Melbourne as it is one of the few remaining intensive agricultural areas close to the metropolitan area, and

- it is a major contributing feature to the generally unique character of the Dandenong Ranges region.

LOCATION AND BOUNDARIES:

East of the Dandenong Ranges. This area includes the districts of Wandin, Wandin East, Wandin Yallock, Silvan and Burleigh.
