Statement of Significance

A simple rectangular selector's hut with front verandah built about 1882 by John Stenzel . This is a good example of vertical timber slab construction with clay and straw mixture daub. The bedroom has a grooved Murray pine ceiling; in other rooms the ceilings are of mud. Structural details show timber plugs; no nails have been used. The roof was originally thatched with bulrushes.
