Statement of Significance

Sale Railway Station opened in 1877 as the terminus of the line through Warragul and the LaTrobe Valley.
The single storey wooden station survives largely intact although the Ladies' and Gentlemen's Waiting Rooms were incorporated into enlarged buffet and refreshment rooms in 1945 and later changed to Victorian Railways Institute rooms.
