Statement of Significance

This small red brick dairy industry building built on the site of the 1892 factory in 1934 was one of the first north-eastern Victorian dairy cooperatives to be established. The simple building lines and typical dairy ventilation along the ridged rooves exemplify the small dairy industry building while its site, just above the flood level of Lake Hume, allows it to remain as one example of old Tallangatta. The new factory built in new Tallangatta demonstrates that the importance of dairying had not abated even after relocation.
