File NumberB6098LevelState |
A single manual organ of 8 stops built by the German emigrant organbuilder Carl Kruger about 1863 for St Michail's Lutheran Church, Hochkirch (now Tarrington). One of two Australian organs built by Kruger, the instrument was displaced by a new organ at Tarrington in 1927 and was stored at various locations before its restoration and installation at Hamilton in 1985.
It is of interest for its casework, including pipeshades and painted decoration, its console placed behind folding doors, its diagonal bellows, and its simple action construction. This is an extremely rare survival from the early years of Victoria whose style has been based upon European rather than British precedent.
