The homestead was built in 1920 for Robert G. Beggs, a leading sheep breeeder in Victoria. The design was by Arthur W. Plaistead, who had also designed many other pastoralist's homes ad large suburban residences. The house, built in Californian bungalow style, was constructed of reinforced concrete with a red tiled roof. It contained many features which, for their day, were ahead of their time.
