Statement of Significance

A church which remains as a poignant memorial tothe expectations of an area soon to be depopulated by the decline of the wheat industry.
Architecturally, dispite its simplified treatment and squat tower it is a sustained attempt to evoke Lombardic Romanesque architecture, notably in the raking arcaded corbel table on the gable, the wheel window, the campanile and the Romanesque Corinthian capitals of the loggia.
