Statement of Significance

Stables Statement of Significance: The Mansfield Police Stables are comparatively large, particularly for a country police station and appear to be a "one off" design as distinct from the usual smaller scale standard examples. The utilitarian nature of the building is given a picturesque flavour with the pinnacled central gablet and the trellised openings. The stables survive almost intact from their original construction in 1889.
Lockup Statement of Significance: This lockup adopts an unusual method of construction and is of importance within the range of designs adopted for this notable building type.
