Statement of Significance

A hospital built in 1854/55 with government backing and in use ever since; two -storey bluestone with elaborate yet delicate cast-iron verandah balconies and pedimented entrance.

The hospital formed part of the notabel townscape of Kyneton, an important 19th century highway town. The hospital was alandmark in the town, is prominent in the surrounding landscape and is a particularly early surviving and substantial hospital building.
