An intact group of residence, office and lock-up, typical of late nineteenth century design in the Public Works Department.
The police residence dates from 1883 the design is standard with a double fronted composition, the picturesque detailing particularly in the projecting gable, the verandah and the chimneys is notable and indicative of Public Works Department standards.
There are few examples of detached police offices in Victoria, and the office at Bridgewater, dating from 1891, is of unusually small size and has attractive verandah and sunshade detailing.
The lock-up is the standard portable type.
