The Creswick Hospital was orginally built in 1863 and served as the hospital until 1912 when it was converted to become the first school of Forestry. The design and location of the hospital is indicative of the considerable affluence the area once enjoyed. The hospital's size is also illustrative of the dangerous nature of mining at that time. The building's significance lies in it's important community role and for its contribution to forestry. The prize winning design for the hospital was prepared by Mr. Poeppel of Daylesford and the building was erected by Mr. Bacon. The first patient was admitted December 11th, 1863.
