Statement of Significance

The Berry Consols Company operated one of the more successful mines on the Berry Lead system. It was the second largest gold producer (after Madam berry).
The machinery installed at this shaft appears to have been similar to that installed at the No. 1 shaft site some time before. The mulloch heap and slum are extensive and relatively complete.
