Statement of Significance

Date of construction is uncertain, but the building was in its present form by 1881-82. The building is of considerabel architecturla significance due to its double gabled facade and superb render work.

It was important in the intellectual life of Clunes at the peak of the town's prosperity and is an integral part of a group of institutional buildings of outstanding significance.
