Statement of Significance

Built by property's first owner, Mr. John Bournein approx. 1862. Later house may date from c.1885. In 1902, the property was bought by Mr. John Herbert Syme and was owned by the Syme family until 1955 when it was sold to the Red Cross Society to be used as a convalescent home for returned servicemen.
