Statement of Significance

A timber church, with squat broach spire sheathed in sheet iron, and raised apsidal chancel, designed by Alexander North and built in 1913-14. The interior is distinctive and highly atmospheric with its walls clad in tongue and groove boards, traceried chancel screen and wooden furnishings of original design. The impact of the exterior has been diminished by the obliteration of North's original scheme, in which the framing elements were picked out, emphasising the verticality of the tower.
