Statement of Significance

One of Portland's earliest surviving domestic buildings, With its simple elements and construction the house exhibits all of the hallmarks of early domestic design. In addition, the structure and building materials survive in a comparitavely original condition. In a town recognised as one of the earlier settlements in the State, the house exemplifies the appearance and development of Portland during its earlier years.
