A church of 1907-8 designed by Kempson & Conolly in a distinctive red brick style intermediate between the Baroque and the Romanesque, with pinnacles of an almost Moghul character and a wavy parapet suggestive of the influence or involvement of Robert Haddon. The contrasting cupola-capped towers, one squat and one elongated, create a distinctive external composition. The interior previously had a pressed metal ceiling, but it was never as distinctive as the outside, and the altar was repositioned in 1971. It was gutted by fire in 1989 and the slate roof has been replaced with colourbond.
