The first mention of a grazing settlement on the site of Yarima is in 1847 when it was named Yairam and was in possesssion of Dr. William Thomson. The holders of a squatters licence were Messrs Acheson & Currie in 1856 and it is likely that the original homestead was built at this time. The current homestead was added to in1867-69 for John Elder Jnr and was designed by architects Henderson & Davidson of Geelong, (originally from Scotland). They were also the designers of Barwon Park, Winchelsea. Weatherboard extensions were added in 1910 by the then owner J.C. Currie. Classified: 14/06/1962 Reclassified: 03/08/1998
