Statement of Significance

A large bluestone building with a slate roof, was completed in 1877 as a residence for the Bishop and Diocese Headquarters. The builder was Geroge Broom and the architects were Reed and Barnes. The massive appearance of the building is somewhat relieved by the interesting ecclesiastical design of the cast-iron work.
