Statement of Significance

These two shop buildings were the site of Herbert Holmfield's business beginnings in the transport trade from bicycle manufacturer, importer and repairer to petrol sales, car dealerships and a motor garage, over the years 1902-1926. Although extensively altered at the front, the rear sections appear original. A prominent businessman, Holmfield operated from many sites, including Echuca Motors in the Esplanade.
