Statement of Significance

Classified: 01/07/1965 File note 18/09/2012:
The Hotel was established by George Sellick immediately following the discovery of gold in 1851. It was described as the Crown Inn in 1852, the same year as the application for a licence. The building was burnt to the ground on 31st December 1884. The following year a new two storied building of apricot coloured brick with multi-gabled roof line was built at a cost of £2,000.
In 1994 extensive alterations were undertaken.(Adopted from Buninyong Heritage Walks)
