Statement of Significance

Believed to have been erected originally as a conservatory at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne.
A structure approximately 45ft square of cast iron frame with decorative cast iron columns and frieze with curved roof infilled with bird wire, on an imitation bluestone base. Decorative brackets originally above column capitals are missing. Re- erected at Melbourne Zoo some time after 1913.
File note: 13/08/2010 Dismantled in 1973 and currently in storage at the Bendigo Council Depot.
