Carters Avenue Group: Nos. 23 - 29
A row of 8 contiguous cottages ranging in period from 1873 to 1891, all of simple timber construction and occupied by a succession of tradesmen and servant.
Nos 37 & 39 of 1891 are typical of many similar cottages constructed by the Metropolitan Building Society throughout the Melbourne suburbs prior to the Society's crash in that year.

Ross Street Group. Nos. 3,5,7; 8,10,12; 19,21; 16,18; 24,26,28,29.
A group of 14 loosely associated cottages and houses in four sub-groups on alternating sides of the street.
They range in age from 1850-1901 and like those in the Carters Avenue group were occupied by tradesmen and servants.
Most are of simple timber construction, but some are larger than the average and one, No. 19, is of rendered brick construction with parapet and more elaborate detailing as befits the home of a building contractor.
