Statement of Significance

A bluestone building dating from the late 1850s of Local significance as one of Malvern's earliest buildings and a remnant of Rosehill, the estate of William Philpott. At various times over its history the building has served as a harness room, groom's residence, dairy, Sunday school, school assembly hall and dining room, but it is locally renowned for its reputed original use as a private chapel, making it an unusual and early example of this building type.
