An imposing pair of three storey Italianate buildings (the remains of a terrace of three) built in 1881-82, in remarkably intact condition, internally and externally, with its staircases and many fine ceilings and fireplaces in very good condition.
It is a most unusual building, and its architect most successful in resolving the transition from the grand Fitzroy Street facade, to the simpler Park Street one. The finely detailed three tiered, arcaded verandahs stand on heavy cast iron columns, and with its original iron fence and tiled paths, it gives Fitzroy Street a reminder of its more sumptuous past.
No. 20 was the home for several years of Sir Graham Berry, the distinguished radical politician.
