Statement of Significance

Clendon Lodge in Toorak is architecturally an outstanding and most unusual residence from the 1920s. It was the work of the innovative American architect Walter Burley Griffin who incorporated many elements of advanced modernism in the American Prairie School style of the design. Its corner setting gives this imposing building considerable streetscape value.
