Statement of Significance

A purpose-built double height brick building with saw tooth roof and south-facing windows constructed for Kellow-Faulkner Pty Ltd in 1928 for the servicing of motor vehicles; a use which has continued to the present. The building is notable for being a relatively well-preserved and representative example - and now the oldest extant - of those constructed in South Melbourne for the manufacture, marketing and servicing of motor vehicles; an industry which was of major importance in the area from 1920 onwards.
