Eynesbury Homestead, Melton South, is a bluestone homestead built for Samuel Thomas Staughton M.L.A., the original two-storied section dating from the early 1870s. The single storied bay windowed side wings date from the 1880s as does probably the concave timber verandah. Quoins, widows walk and the eaves detailing are features. Construction is in coursed bluestone with hipped corrugated iron roofs and stuccoed chimneys.
Eynesbury Homestead, Melton South, is a distinctive and unusual homestead, architecturally important and has also historical associations with the Staughton family who settled the area in 1841. Eynesbury is an excellent example of a ninetenth century homestead with associated outbuildings. The original two storey section is in a Colonial Georgian style whilst the later wings are Victorian. Together they form a most unusual architectural composition. The eaves detailing is most unusual.
